Getting there....

It has been quite hectic and manic around here this last week. I finally faced my
attics, and to my surprise I was able to sort the endless amount of boxes and chaos
in three and a half days! I keep going upstairs to have another look, can not believe
I did it. One of the side attics is now empty and ready to be made into a bedroom
for my oldest daughter, and the other one, well, what can I say? It is a bit full.
But it feels so good. Now there is a large Memories-Treasure box for each of
my children. First toys, first outfits, hospital arm bands etc

Another huge task I simply had to do was sort the thousands of files on my computer,
and try to make sense of the photos that were all mixed up. About 6 years
of photos I would say. I have to catch up and have these printed professionally.
I am creating photo albums for my children, for when they are grown up.
These will be going into their Treasure boxes, too.
Of course I must have some of these photos put on canvas, and I know all the
right walls to hang them :)  As I am typing this, I am uploading 761 photos to an
online digital photo printing place in the UK. I think it might take a while *laughs*

Next week I will be painting the stair well, the hall way, and the two landings.
Nope, not much to do at all.

I am skipping putting in the new wooden floor in the living room, and converting
the garage to the new year. It was all becoming too much. Sometimes I just expect way
too much of myself. And Christmas is around the corner. Much more interesting...

... oh and talking about Christmas, I will post soon about the Christmas Swap.
Thank you all so much for your emails and comments!

Have a lovely weekend!

x

  1. I remember these photos from when you were Nua Rua on Flickr ... many happy memories :)
I'm so proud of you, for all that you've already achieved, and for all the file cleaning, the decluttering, for all that you've been doing for your children. They are proud of you too, even though they may not say it outloud (or thinking it yet) They will thank you, later. xoxoxo

  2. Aww - what beautiful photos.

Decluttering/sorting can be so theraputic. I can't believe how much you've got done.

I need to get a much larger memory box for Violet, as stuff is spilling out of the one I'm currently using. She wonder why the hell I kept half the stuff when she's older :0)

  4. I took on the "attic challenge" just a few weeks ago. Doesn't it feel so good to have it done!?! Would love to have a master bedroom/studio up there but there is a lot to do first including electric and insulation. It may never happen, but at least it's clean and organized up there now.
Good luck with the rest of your to-do list. :)

  7. Oh I wish I had an attic to clutter up...
I have all these things which need storing for a while, yet can't find a place for them to reside so I don't have to look at them....
How blissfully happy and content your cherubs look. Have a great week..xoxoAmanda

  8. Eek! The sorting out the photographs task. Fills me with dread. In a way, I think it's a shame they all go straight on to the computer nowadays. Up until the girls were about 10 or 11, I have lots of 'hold in the hand' photos of them - albeit stuffed in various albums and boxes around the place - but now they are all in files on the computer which just isn't the same. Also, I think you are more ruthless with digital photos - it's easy just to press 'delete' if they aren't quite perfect but often, these are the ones that make you laugh or are more interesting when you look at them years later. Sorry, just me harking back to the old days of 5 or 6 years ago.

Are there moments with coffee/tea involved ?
Doing nothing and staring in the blue sky ?
I once made little "lucifer"boxes for a busy friend . With quiet moments .
