Revival

For many years I have had my sofa, large, heavy and loved much too much.
It's creamy colour faded and tired. It traveled with me from Ireland, to Holland, to England and now it 'lives' in France.  And I simply could not get myself to get rid of it. It's sits five children and a grown up easily. So we spent two days dyeing it a deep red, and making new cushions.

It is now the happy bright area in the house! Bursting with colour.
[In my perfect world, my sofa would be light and creamy white, it would survive little children's hands for about 24 hours :) ]

Because I just love it, no matter how old and worn out it is.

... and after all that work, it is time for a cappuccino. Or perhaps even two!

  • I have closed my shop, by the way. I am working on totally new 'things' and sadly I am not able to do both + be a mum to five during the Summer Holidays. I feel badly, but I re-counted my hands, and there is still only two of them. No matter how much I have wished to have at least another two sets ....
  • [ really excited about the new stuff ] *does one of those happy dances*

  4. You're much braver than I - I would have freaked out at the prospect of everything else turning red (or pink) too.

Your beloved sofa looks great - may it live happily, groaning under the weight of its loving family, for another decade or so.

Look forward at hearing and seeing your new projects.

  6. It looks stunning Anna! I'm not brave enough to stain a whole sofa! I would be scared that it won't turn as I wished. On the other hand, an unexpected effect can sometimes be better than the expected one.......

  7. I adore the cushions ... almost made me drag my sewing machine down from the loft. But alas, I'd need another pair of hands to start a sewing project!

  8. Love the sofa, I might be doing something similar about to move out and my aunt is going to give me her sofa...if it fits. Haha. Bright colour might be just what it needs.

As for closing your shops, don't feel bad about it. I have to close mine on the 24th in prep for me moving out.

  9. Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! I'd love to be jumping into the sofa. I am so jealous with your kids who could do that! Your patchwork has always inspired me. Now I am taking this inspiration from you to my new ceramic work somehow...

I am so excited for your new thing! Can’t wait to see! All the best Anna. xm

  10. lovely sofa and fabulous cushions... I can't wait to see what marvelous new things you will be making. And when the kids go back to school and you have time to breathe and craft again you will open your shop so we can all stock up and goodies for christmas crafting... oh dead did I just say the dreaded 'c' word? *washes mouth out with soap*

have cool drinks when you can.. and five minutes peace here and there when you ignore the mess and the chatter and just chill out.
